The body of one of the hostages held by Palestinian militant Hamas has been found in Gaza.

The Israeli military said it found the body of 53-year-old Youssef Ziyadh in a cave in Gaza on the 7th and notified the bereaved family after an autopsy.

The Israeli military said there were findings related to Hamza Ziyadhne, Youssef's son, at the scene, adding that "serious concerns were raised about Hamza's survival."

Four members of the Ziyadh family were kidnapped when Hamas raided southern Israel on October 7, 2023.

Youssef's other son Bilal, 18, and daughter Aisha, 17, were released after about 50 days of detention on Nov. 30, 2023, when Israeli forces and Hamas briefly broke down.

Youssef, who was found dead this time, was reportedly included in the list of releases Hamas recently delivered to Israel during ceasefire negotiations.

Considering that there were large protests in Israel in August last year when six hostage bodies were found in Gaza, it is expected to affect domestic public opinion in Israel again.
