[Gyeonggi] Disaster Management Fund to Minimize Medical Vacancies KRW 34.4 Billion Additional Support

2024.11.04 AM 10:13
Gyeonggi Province has decided to provide 34.4 billion won in additional disaster management funds to minimize medical gaps caused by doctors' collective action.

The budget will be used to hire new emergency medical personnel, including emergency rooms at 27 medical institutions, including senior hospitals in the province, and to allow medical staff to work at night, on duty, and on holiday.

If 8 billion won is added, including the special allowance for emergency room doctors, which has been supported since February, a total of 42.4 billion won in disaster management funds will be provided.

The emergency room of Ajou University Hospital, the central emergency medical center in southern Gyeonggi Province, has been limited to some operations since September due to a lack of dedicated doctors, but it is expected to operate normally from December 1 as two new doctors were hired using the disaster management fund supported by the province.

Governor Kim Dong-yeon explained the reason for the decision to support the disaster management fund, saying, "There is no hospital to transport children with fever for more than an hour and checking 93 hospitals for emergency treatment of twin pregnant women for four hours."
