Google holding hands with NVIDIA...Speed of Quantum Computing Development

2024.11.19 AM 10:17
Big Tech Google in the U.S. has joined hands with Nvidia, a leader in artificial intelligence and AI semiconductors, to speed up the development of quantum computing.

According to Bloomberg News on the 18th local time, Google's quantum AI department has decided to work together by simulating the physical situation needed for quantum processors to operate using Nvidia's supercomputer EOS.

As quantum processors become more powerful, it is difficult to distinguish between real information and interference called "noise," which Google expects to be helped by Nvidia.

Giffre Vidal, a researcher at Google's Quantum AI Division, said, "We are exploring the impact of noise in the design of quantum chips that are growing (using Nvidia technology)."

The field of quantum computing aims to use quantum mechanics to create devices that are much faster than current semiconductor technology-based products, but are still in the early stages of development.

While several companies claim to have made major strides in quantum computing, the prospect is that it will take decades to be commercially available on a large scale.

The announcement of the two companies' cooperation came at the "Supercomputing 2024" (SC 2024) conference event in Atlanta, U.S., through Tuesday, Bloomberg said.
