A high-ranking North Korean general was injured in a recent Ukrainian airstrike in Russia's Kursk region, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 21st (local time), citing Western officials.
It is the first time that a Western official has said North Korea has suffered casualties of a senior North Korean officer since it sent more than 10,000 soldiers and officers to Russia, which is at war with Ukraine, last month.
The officials did not give details on how much the North Korean officer was injured or his identity.
Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said at the European Political Community (EPC) summit in Budapest, Hungary, on the 7th of this month that some of the North Korean troops deployed to Kursk were put into combat, causing casualties.
