The military reportedly imposed a disciplinary surcharge of more than 10 billion won on a former military officer who took bribes.

In June, the Ministry of National Defense's Military Personnel Disciplinary Committee decided to impose 11.74 billion won in additional disciplinary fines on A, a 50-year-old former Navy 4th-grade civilian.

This is the first disciplinary penalty of more than 10 billion won as a disciplinary penalty for public officials who commit bribery and embezzlement of public funds.

Mr. A was put on trial last year on charges of helping companies win construction orders and taking bribes by leaking internal information while working as an election factory manager in the naval fleet in charge of lifting ships from sea to land.

Mr. A, who had worked as the head of a related business for a long time, was also sentenced to heavy punishment in the court for engaging in the order review process and taking bribes as if they were the payment of goods through a company under his family's name.
