The government and the medical community confirmed differences on the number of medical schools in the ruling and opposition parties' consultative bodies discussing the resolution of the legislative conflict, but they reportedly found some points of contact on other issues.

Kim Sung-won, a member of the People's Power, a participant of the ruling party, said after the third plenary session at the National Assembly that the government accepted the medical community's demand for an expansion of participation in the special medical committee and a structure that could reflect opinions from the medical community as much as possible, adding that discussions between the two sides will continue.

He added that progress has been made on the guarantee of autonomy and the revision of the enforcement ordinance of the Korea Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation, and further discussions will continue.

However, the government and the medical community have not reached an agreement on the issue of increasing medical schools next year.

The medical community reportedly delivered the adjustment plan to the government, which calls for limiting the carry-over of the number of employees who have not been filled on time, but the government has maintained its existing position, saying it is difficult to accept it realistically.
