The Gunsan Branch of the Jeonju District Court sentenced Shin Young-dae of the Democratic Party of Korea, who was accused of promoting parliamentary activities during the party's primary in the last general election, to a fine of 500,000 won.

The court revealed the reason for the sentencing, considering that the degree of violation was light and that it was a first-time offender.

Rep. Shin was indicted on charges of promoting his achievements with microphones and loudspeakers in front of about 20 employees of an insurance company in downtown Gunsan in January, when he was in the party's 22nd general election.

Apart from the trial, lawmaker Shin has been charged with taking 100 million won worth of bribes from the CEO of Gunsan Citizen Power Co., Ltd. to resolve complaints about the solar power business.
