The breakwater structure "Tetrapod," which was installed to prevent waves, is called the "Black Hole of the Sea" because it poses a high risk of falling when a person rises and is difficult to escape.

The Coast Guard is strengthening its crackdown after continuous accidents in which people fall and die or get seriously injured while enjoying fishing here.

I'm reporter Song Se-hyuk.

Cheongok Port in Donghae City with darkness.

A fisherman in his 40s who fell through the structure of the breakwater was rescued by the Coast Guard, but he died.

"Do you have any consciousness? None."

At another breakwater, four family members who were trying to fish were rescued after being isolated by heavy rain.

In particular, I crossed the slippery breakwater structure with my child wearing slippers.

"Saving 2 out of 4 isolates completed."

The seawall structure has a round surface and many mossy parts, so it is easy to fall even if you stumble a little.

The breakwater structure is 3 to 5 meters high and layered, making it almost impossible to escape on its own if it falls.

In the past six years, 462 safety accidents have occurred at breakwaters nationwide.

65 people were killed.

Therefore, banners warning of danger have been put up all over the breakwater, but there are still people who ignore them and enjoy fishing.

"Please go to a safe place immediately."

In order to prevent the accident, the maritime police will patrol from time to time, and if they refuse to comply with the eviction order, they will be fined up to 1 million won.

[Kim Environment / Donghae Maritime Police Chief: The distance between the tetrapods is very wide and deep. So if it falls, it can lead to serious injury or death.

The Coast Guard plans to cooperate with local governments to install additional seawall fences and warning signs and further strengthen crackdowns.
