U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has requested that the sentence of the sex scandal gag trial scheduled for the 10th be put on hold.
Reuter reported that Trump's lawyers requested that the sentence be put on hold pending the outcome of an appeal regarding Trump's immunity in a filing to the Manhattan Criminal Court in New York.
Earlier, Judge Juan Merchant of Manhattan Criminal Court in New York decided to issue a sentence on the 10th, rejecting Trump's request to overturn the conviction and dismiss it.
Trump's side asked to dismiss the lawsuit, citing presidential immunity recognized by the Supreme Court, but Judge Merchant refused to accept it.
However, he suggested that the prison sentence should be excluded considering Trump's status.
Just before the 2016 presidential election, Trump was put on trial on charges of manipulating company accounting records in this regard after handing over a large sum of money to prevent past sexual exposure by adult actor Stormy Daniels.
