A cold wave warning has been issued in northern Gangwon Province, where temperatures are expected to drop below minus 15 degrees Celsius as a strong cold wave moves south.
The areas where the announcement was made are Cheorwon, Hwacheon, Yanggu, and northern mountains in Gangwon-do, and the effective time is 9 p.m. tonight.
Cold wave warnings have also been issued in Paju, Gyeonggi-do, and are being issued to most of Gangwon-do except for the northeastern part of Gyeonggi-do and the east coast.
In particular, heavy snow warnings are being issued in Chungnam and Honam's west coast, which are affected by the cold wave, so caution is needed.
The Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA) urged thorough preparations, saying that the morning temperature in Seoul will drop to -6 degrees Celsius tomorrow and -12 degrees Celsius the day after tomorrow, and heavy snow will fall up to 40 centimeters in North Jeolla Province and more than 20 centimeters on the west coast of Chungnam Province.
