134 people with cold illness this winter... "Four estimated deaths."

As the cold spell continues nationwide, the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has asked for special attention to cold diseases, including hypothermia.

From the 1st to the 6th of last month, a total of 134 people with cold disease entered 500 emergency rooms nationwide, and four of them were identified as presumed deaths from cold disease.

86.6% of those with cold illness were hypothermia patients, and 73.9% occurred outdoors.

Cold disease is a disease that is directly caused by cold, and it is estimated that 1,883 people occurred from 2019 to 2023, and 42 people died from cold disease.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stressed that older people and children vulnerable to cold should reduce outdoor activities as much as possible.
