Denmark has repeatedly dismissed U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's expression of his intention to incorporate his country's Greenland into the U.S., saying there is no possibility of it becoming U.S. soil.Danish Foreign Minister
Ras Roque Rasmussen said on Tuesday local time that he knew Greenland had its own ambitions and that although it could become independent, there would be little ambition to become a federal state for the United States.Secretary

Rasmussen, however, defended Trump's claim of U.S. security needs as the reason for his Greenland purchase as a result of increased Chinese and Russian activity in the Arctic Ocean.Secretary

Rasmussen also said, "I do not think it is a diplomatic crisis" and that he is willing to talk to the U.S. side about how to expand cooperation to ensure that U.S. security aspirations are met.

This is interpreted as choosing to persuade diplomatically instead of responding head-on to Trump's pressure on Denmark.
