The criminal trial in the U.S. of Kwon Do-hyung, a key figure in the cryptocurrency 'Terra and Luna' crash, will be held in earnest from January next year.

Judge Paul Engelmeyer of the Southern Federal Court in New York said the first pre-trial consultation on Kwon's case was overwhelming to review the vast amount of data and said he would start the main trial schedule on January 26 next year.

The court has decided to receive additional data by the 27th of next month and conduct an additional preliminary hearing before the trial on March 6.

Kwon, who was extradited to the U.S. from Montenegro on the 31st of last month and is currently imprisoned in the federal detention center in Brooklyn, New York, pleaded not guilty by attending an indictment hearing on the 2nd.

Earlier, the U.S. Southern District Prosecutors' Office in New York handed Kwon over to trial on a total of nine charges, including securities fraud, conspiracy to manipulate market prices and conspiracy to launder money, and if all are found guilty, the maximum sentence is expected to be 130 years.
