Kim Nam-guk, a former lawmaker of the Democratic Party of Korea, will receive alimony from Jang Ye-chan, a former Supreme Council member of the People's Power, who raised suspicions of illegal coin trading against him.
The Seoul Southern District Court concluded that former lawmaker Kim won some of the plaintiffs in a damages lawsuit filed against former Supreme Council member Jang and sentenced him to pay 30 million won in alimony.
The court judged that the broadcasting deliberation regulations should not express it as a criminal until a final judgment is made, shaking off the opportunity to correct the remarks limited by the host and more actively indicating false facts.
Former lawmaker Kim said he would immediately appeal the case, saying that the civil trial should compensate for the case that was cleared of criminal charges.
In May 2023, former Supreme Council member Jang raised suspicions that former lawmaker Kim illegally traded coins knowing the listing information in advance in social media posts and radio interviews.
Since then, former lawmaker Kim has filed a civil lawsuit against former Supreme Council member Jang, asking him to compensate him for damages worth 50 million won.
