The Daegu District Prosecutors' Office's Sangju Branch indicted Shin Hyun-guk, the mayor of Mungyeong, North Gyeongsang Province, without detention on charges of stopping the audit with only a letter of resignation even after receiving a report of an employee's delivery irregularities.

Mayor Shin is accused of ordering the audit to stop after receiving a letter of resignation in April last year, even after receiving a report that an employee of Mungyeong City stole 590 million won in budget through a delivery corruption.

Mr. A, who was previously accused of receiving back some of the budget he executed by making false contracts with three suppliers, was sentenced to two years in prison in the first trial and is proceeding with an appeal trial.

In addition, three people, including former deputy mayor of Mungyeong City and senior civil servants, were also put on trial on charges of suspending the audit at the direction of Mayor Shin and falsely reporting to higher agencies that there was no corruption by A.
