North Korea will hold our National Assembly-style Supreme People's Assembly on the 7th to revise the Constitution.

Under the direction of Chairman Kim Jong-un, it is expected that "erase unification" will be institutionalized, and the government also predicted that the basic inter-Korean agreement signed 33 years ago could be destroyed.

In a speech to the Supreme People's Assembly in January, Chairman Kim Jong-un ordered the removal of expressions such as "independence, peaceful reunification, and national unity" from the Constitution.

As a follow-up to the designation of inter-Korean relations as "two hostile countries" late last year, he also ordered the government to reflect education of South Korea as the "first hostile country."

[Chosun Joongang TV (January): Confrontation between the two Koreas, who are becoming increasingly brutal and arrogant, cannot go on the path of national revival and unification with the Korean people, who have a strong sense of fraternity....]

Since then, North Korea has continued to implement inter-Korean disconnection measures.

A typical example is the road and railroad connecting the two Koreas, such as laying landmines and covering the northern section of the Gyeongui and Donghae lines.

Recently, satellite images have additionally identified the removal of all the railroad tracks on the bridge from Panmun Station to Panmunjom.

As a result, the Supreme People's Assembly, which will be held on the 7th, is expected to deal with a constitutional amendment containing Chairman Kim's order.

The Ministry of Unification predicted that it could remove expressions such as unification and ethnicity, establish a new territorial clause reflecting maritime border regulations, and even destroy the basic inter-Korean agreement.

The Inter-Korean Basic Agreement is a historical agreement that has served as a milestone in inter-Korean relations since it was signed at the 5th inter-Korean high-level talks in December 1991, and the preface defines inter-Korean relations as special relations aimed at unification, not between countries.

[Cho Han-beom/senior researcher at the Korea Institute for National Unification]: North Korea is already on a two-state course with Kim Jong-un's declaration, so it will not return to a relationship aimed at unification.]

The Ministry of Unification predicted that after the Supreme People's Assembly, North Korea could try to build a cause for provocation, creating social security anxiety by establishing additional territorial provisions.
