Government and medical school professors' organizations hold a debate on 'medical reform' today.

The government and the emergency committee of the Seoul National University Medical School Professors' Council will hold a discussion on "Medical Reform, Where Are We Going" at Seoul National University this afternoon (10th).

On the government side, Jang Sang-yoon, senior presidential secretary for social affairs, and Chung Kyung-sil, head of the medical reform promotion team at the Ministry of Health and Welfare, will participate, while Kang Hee-kyung, chairman of the emergency committee, and Ha Eun-jin, a member of the emergency committee at Seoul National University Medical School, will participate.

On the agenda of the debate, the government suggested the need to increase the number of medical schools by 2,000, and Seoul Medical University suggested "normalization measures for medical school education" and "procedural justification of the medical policy-making process."

The emergency committee of a professor at Seoul National University of Medicine, the organizer of the debate, explained that the government has fully explained its arguments on the "increase of medical schools" issue through parliamentary audits, so it is skeptical that further discussions will be meaningful, but it has been included in the agenda for fairness in the debate.
