Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yeol met with European Union Special Representative for Human Rights Olof Skook and discussed ways to cooperate on international human rights issues, including North Korean human rights.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Minister Cho will meet with Scook, who visited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building, to continue close cooperation to send a strong and united message from the international community to improve human rights in North Korea.

Skook said, "It is important to keep the reality of North Korea's human rights from the international community's attention by covering up the escalating conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East."

At the meeting, Minister Cho stressed that Korea will strengthen its role for the protection of human rights and peace and prosperity of the international community, as it plans to simultaneously take over the three major UN agencies, the Security Council, the Economic and Social Council, and the Human Rights Council next year.
