AI Safety Research Institute to cooperate in international solidarity on AI safety will be launched next month, with the "Basic AI Act" drifting in the National Assembly.

The Ministry of Science and ICT announced that it will establish an AI safety research institute under the Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute and ETRI to evaluate AI risks and secure safety.

The AI Safety Institute, which will be located at Pangyo Global Research and Development Center with about 30 people, will participate in the International AI Safety Institute network to be held in the United States on the 20th of next month.

In addition to the opening of the AI Safety Research Institute, the government also deliberated and decided on the 4th basic plan for cloud computing at the Information and Communication Strategy Committee held today (18th).

It plans to promote the use of private clouds, including the introduction of clouds in the evaluation of public sector institutions, and to launch K-Cloud projects that increase domestic cloud competitiveness through the development of high-speed and low-power domestic AI semiconductors and the application of data centers.
