The spacesuit called the 'smallest spacecraft' is evolving.

The spacesuits worn by astronauts going to the moon again in half a century have been designed by luxury brands, and the development of spacesuits in preparation for Mars exploration is also speeding up.

Reporter Yoon Hyun-sook introduces it.

It is NASA's next-generation spacesuit.

Italian luxury brand Prada designed it with private space company Axiom Space.

The new space suit is first worn by Artemis Project astronauts.

[Russell Ralstone / Axiom Space Suit Program Manager: Combining technology, science, and art, we have created the ultimate costume for those who will walk on the moon in the future.]

Artemis 3, which will land on the moon for the first time in half a century since Apollo 17 in 1972, will carry four astronauts, including women and people of color.

As the goal is to explore the first female moon, the new spacesuit is tailored to fit the body shape for both men and women.

[Matte Ondler / Axiom Space CEO: The first woman to walk on the moon will wear the suit. The first person of color will wear the spacesuit. The first non-American will wear the suit and go into extremely dangerous extreme conditions.]

It is characterized by being able to withstand lunar polar temperatures exceeding minus 200 degrees Celsius and flexible movement of arm and leg joints.

Moonwalking becomes much more natural than Apollo astronauts, who were walking like bunnies.

Elon Musk-led SpaceX first succeeded in civilian space travel last month.

Four civilians have tested their performance by spacewalking in newly developed spacesuits.

Space suits like daily clothes are essential to achieve Musk's dream of having humans on Mars.

[Sarah Gillis / 'Polaris Dawn' Flight Attendant: The mission will repeatedly test a new space suit. We plan to find a lot of data so that it can be used for spacewalks or space suit design improvements.

The cost of making high-tech spacesuits is well over 10 billion won per suit.a spacesuit called

'the most expensive suit in the world'

Responsible for the life and safety of astronauts, we are expanding humanity's dream of space.
