Amid discussions about extending the retirement age due to a decrease in the working-age population, eight out of 10 companies are positive about it.

According to a survey of 461 companies conducted by the talent recruitment platform "People," 80% of all respondents said they were "positive" about extending the retirement age.

The reason for this was the highest utilization of know-how by skilled workers at 58%, followed by the stability of living of the elderly, preparation for a decrease in the production population, and an increase in applicants for the job-hungry industries.

The average retirement age that I think is appropriate was 65.7 years old.

On the other hand, 44% of companies who said they were negative about extending their retirement age thought it would adversely affect the creation of young people and new jobs.

Also cited the negative impact of corporate culture due to the accumulation of senior personnel, the conservative nature of the corporate atmosphere, and the retirement age of 60 is often not observed.

In addition, more than half of the companies considered hiring middle-aged people in their 50s and 60s, or 53%.
