White House National Security Adviser nominee Mike Waltz, who will take over as the foreign and security head of Trump's second administration, has emphasized ways to reduce the burden on the United States by increasing the role of South Korea and other allies.

Waltz wrote in a May policy book by the Institute for American Firstism that while the U.S. focuses on deterring its peers like China and Russia, contributing in its own way by allies could dramatically reduce the U.S. burden.

In particular, he stressed that Japan's Kishida regime could hold "tough dialogue" to allow allies to share the burden of collective defense, citing the fact that it has significantly increased its defense budget.

He also pointed out that the U.S. no longer has the capacity to go alone, taking interest on the national debt that tarnishes its defense budget.

Based on Waltz's contribution, it is predicted that the second Trump administration will negotiate to significantly increase the defense cost share while sharing the security burden while emphasizing the alliance.
