The Japanese government has begun a review to strengthen sanctions on North Korea and Russia, which are strengthening military cooperation, Japanese public broadcaster NHK reported.

NHK said the Japanese government is considering expanding the freeze on their assets, believing that military cooperation between North Korea and Russia not only seriously affects peace and security in the Indo-Pacific region but also violates international law.

Japan is already imposing various sanctions on North Korea, which has repeatedly developed nuclear weapons and missiles, and Russia, which invaded Ukraine, is taking measures such as restricting imports and exports and freezing assets.

Earlier, Japanese Foreign Ministry Takeshi Iwaya expressed serious concern about the North Korean military's dispatch to Russia during a surprise visit to Ukraine on the 16th and meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky and others.
