The Defense Acquisition Program Administration said that the long-range radar developed with pure domestic technology has been determined to be suitable for combat and will start mass production from 2026.

The new long-range radar is a radar that can detect and track aircraft in the Korea Air Defense Identification Zone (KADIZ) 24 hours a day, and has been conducting test evaluation for about a year and a half since its development.

The agency said it was also satisfied with the Air Force's required performance and proved to be the world's best in detection probability and accuracy.

He added that only a few countries, including the United States, France, Italy, and Spain, have developed their own long-range radars, adding that this development has secured a variety of independent technologies such as large antenna design, manufacturing, and heat dissipation technologies.
