Today is milder than usual, but air quality is poor, especially in the Midwest, including the metropolitan area.

The concentration of ultrafine dust is expected to be high throughout the day due to smog from China.

I'll connect you to our reporters for more information.

Reporter Jung Hye-yoon, the air is not good after the weather. Which area should I be aware of now?

[Reporter]
Yes, the concentration of ultrafine dust is currently "bad" in most areas of Seoul, Incheon, and Gyeonggi Province, so caution is needed.

The concentration is around 40 micrograms per cubic meter, which is twice the usual level.

Although it is not enough to be given a special notice, ultra fine dust is not filtered out of the respiratory tract such as the nose and mucous membranes, so it is recommended for the elderly and children to avoid outdoor activities as much as possible.

The National Institute of Environmental Research said today that the concentration of ultra-fine dust will remain "bad" throughout the day, mainly in the metropolitan area and Chungnam, as the inflow of smog from China is added to the atmospheric congestion.

After that, it is possible to expand into the southern interior from night to further fine dust until tomorrow morning.

However, the ultrafine dust will not worsen to a high concentration level where the average concentration exceeds 50, and will gradually be resolved as clean air moves south from the north tomorrow afternoon.
