Sewage treatment water from Hwaseong and Osan in Gyeonggi-do is used in Samsung Electronics' semiconductor production.
According to Gyeonggi Province, the Ministry of Environment, Hwaseong City, Osan City, Korea Water Resources Corporation, Korea Environment Corporation, and Samsung Electronics will sign a "first phase water reuse business agreement" at Samsung Electronics' Hwaseong Campus on the 11th.
Under the agreement, 120,000 tons of water a day treated at Osan Public Sewage Treatment Facility (55,000 tons) and Hwaseong Dongtan 2 Water Quality Health Center (65,000 tons) will be reprocessed at reuse facilities and supplied to Samsung Electronics' Giheung and Hwaseong sites.
By 2029, a total of 320 billion won will be invested in installing reuse facilities and supply and inflow pipes, including 166.7 billion won in private capital and 213.3 billion won in financial support.
Financial support includes 192 billion won in state funds, 6.4 billion won in provincial expenses, and 14.9 billion won in municipal expenses.
Gyeonggi Province submitted the agreement to the provincial council in accordance with the "Ordinance on Business Partnerships and Conventions."
