U.S. Defense Department Says "No Change in U.S. Forces Korea Posture" After Declaring Martial Law in South Korea

The U.S. Department of Defense has said there has been no change in the preparedness of U.S. troops in South Korea since President Yoon Suk Yeol declared a state of emergency.Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder

said at a briefing that, to the best of his knowledge, there was no change in the U.S. military posture following South Korea's declaration of emergency martial law.

When asked if North Korea showed any signs of taking advantage of the situation, it repeatedly confirmed that it was closely monitoring the situation but knew nothing about changes in the military's posture.Asked if he supported Yoon's declaration of martial law, Ryder spokesman
declined to give an immediate answer, saying, "We will continue to monitor the situation and our commitment to South Korea is ironclad."

Meanwhile, the Pentagon announced again that it would hold a press briefing on the fourth South Korea-U.S. Nuclear Consultative Group meeting in Washington, but postponed the briefing after the martial law was declared.
