Civilian Council "Emergency martial law is a coup and civil war..."The President should be impeached"

The National Council of Professors and Researchers for a Democratic and Equal Society issued an emergency statement today (4th) claiming that President Yoon Suk Yeol's declaration of emergency martial law is an anti-constitutional coup and civil war.

At the same time, he emphasized that President Yoon, a criminal, should be immediately impeached and handed over to criminal trial.

The KCTU said the emergency martial law does not fall under any of the constitutional martial law requirements and that blocking lawmakers convened to lift martial law from entering the Capitol constitutes a rebellion.

He added that not only President Yoon but also all the members of the party who agreed with the Minister of National Defense should be brought to justice.
