Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon sent an urgent letter to major foreign figures and heads of international organizations regarding the declaration and lifting of emergency martial law.
The emergency letter went to more than 2,400 people, including Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, China's Deputy Prime Minister Hu Jipeng, California Governor Gavin Newsom and U.N. Secretary-General Amida Salsia Eliszabana.
Governor Kim explained the situation in the letter, "The Korean people are engaged in their daily lives as usual, and all sectors of the economic industry are operating without problems."
He then promised, "We will proceed with the provincial government without wavering so that Gyeonggi-do residents and 2,400 foreign-invested companies can enjoy ordinary daily life and engage in stable livelihood."
Governor Kim also said, "Gyeonggi Province is doing its best to provide a stable and safe environment for foreign companies, so please trust Korea and Gyeonggi Province and focus on your operation."
