As the final negotiations between Korail and the National Railroad Workers' Union have finally collapsed, the first strike will begin tomorrow.

All lines nationwide, including KTX and Mugunghwa, and some sections of the Seoul metropolitan area 1, 3, and 4 have become inevitable.

Reporter Park Ki-wan reports.

The National Railroad Workers' Union will go on a general strike from the first train tomorrow.

There was a last-minute tug-of-war with Korail over the proposed wage increase, but in the end, no agreement was reached.

It's been a year and three months since September last year.

[Choi Myung-ho / Chairman of the National Railroad Workers' Union: The Korea Railroad Corporation turned a blind eye to the legitimate demands of railway workers. We are going on a general strike tomorrow as scheduled. We ask for your active interest and support.

However, if the government and Korail show a forward-looking attitude, they left room, saying that the door to dialogue is open at any time.

The disruption to work from the first train tomorrow has become inevitable.

This is because even if you put in as much alternative manpower as possible, it is only about 60% of the normal manpower.

Lines 1, 3, and 4 in the Seoul metropolitan area, the central line of Gyeongui, and the Suin Bundang line, etc.
During rush hour
, the operation will be reduced to 90% compared to usual and 76% during the entire time period.

In addition, KTX will be reduced to 67 percent of its usual operation, and Saemaul and Mugunghwa will be reduced to 58 percent and 62 percent, respectively.

Train tickets suspended during the strike will be returned in full, and there will be no penalty if the tickets are changed.

Korail asked to check the train operation in advance through its mobile app and website.

On top of that, the Seoul Transportation Corporation, which includes most of the metropolitan subway, also forewarned a general strike from the day after tomorrow, and the confusion on the way to work is expected to continue for the time being.
