The Rural Development Administration, which opened the only agricultural life supercomputing center in September last year, recently announced that it has completed an analysis in 20 days that will take more than three years using Supercomputer Unit 2.
The Agricultural Development Administration explained that it has drastically shortened the analysis period, saying that it has been requested by the private sector to analyze and disclose the genetic mutation data of more than 4,700 resources such as rice, beans, and peppers.
In addition, the Rural Development Administration predicted 2.8 million protein and compound binding structures in six days by supporting large-scale screening to search for crop protection candidate materials, which is about eight months ahead of the existing method.
The Rural Development Administration said it connected the Internet network at the end of last month to enable remote access, and announced that it will start a full-fledged service in the first half of next year.
Kwon Soo-jin, head of the Department of Genomics at the Agricultural Development Administration, said, "Studies that took too long to analyze are now possible," adding, "We will expand cooperation with the private sector to accelerate agricultural digitization."
