The 'Miss Netherlands' competition is being abolished after 35 years, AFP reports.
"Times have changed and we are changing accordingly," the organizing committee of Miss Netherlands said in a statement.
The organizing committee said it would create a platform to share stories of women or successful women who are struggling due to social media or unrealistic beauty standards.
The organizing committee emphasized, "There are no more crowns, but there are inspiring stories and no dresses, but there are dreams to move alive."
"The bands and crowns (worn or worn by the winner of the beauty contest) may no longer be the stuff of this era," said Monica Panay, the organizing committee's president, in a blog post about the new platform. "But women who support and help each other are forever to us."
Ricky Kohler became the first transgender person to win the Miss Netherlands competition last year, making headlines.
