U.S. President-elect Donald Trump has named Richard Grenell, a former ambassador to Germany, as a "special mission ambassador" to take charge of major conflict zones, including North Korea.
In a post on his social media account, Trump said Grenell had worked on the U.N. Security Council for eight years, dealing with the situation in several countries, including North Korea.
Grenell also explained that he will always put the United States first and continue to fight for peace through power.
Former ambassador Grenell served as ambassador to Germany and acting director of national intelligence in the first Trump administration, and is considered a close aide to Trump and a diplomatic strategist.
