The AP reported that the accused of a series of unsolved beach murders in New York State for more than a decade has been put on trial for killing another woman.

Prosecutors in Suffolk County, New York, have charged 61-year-old Rex Huerman, the defendant in the "long beach serial murder" case, with the murder of Valerie Mack, who was 24 when she disappeared.

Earlier in 2010, Huerman was put on trial last year on charges of killing three women, and earlier this year, he was charged with killing three women, and this month, he was confirmed to have killed one more woman.

The Long Beach Serial Murders on Long Island, N.Y. found more than 10 women dead in more than a decade from 2010, and the victims were mainly women engaged in prostitution.

The case remained pending for a long time, but the investigation took off in 2022 when witnesses said the woman killed saw a pickup truck owned by Huerman nearby just before he disappeared.

Born and raised on Long Island, Huerman lived long and near the beach and has worked as an architectural consultant in Manhattan, New York.

Investigators who placed Heurman on the investigation ship and monitored him collected pizza slices that Heurman had eaten last year and took DNA samples, and put him on trial after the results showed he was similar to the DNA detected in the body.

DNA has been detected, but Heurman denies the crime, and Heurman's lawyer has argued that the DNA detected in the body is damaged a lot and cannot be evidence of Heurman's crime.
