Democratic and Republican leaders in the U.S. Congress have agreed on a temporary budget plan to avoid a temporary suspension of government work just before the inauguration of the Donald Trump administration.

The Washington Post and Politico reported on the 18th local time that congressional leaders agreed on a temporary budget needed to run the government by March 14 next year.

The temporary budget has added $100 billion in disaster relief and $10 billion in farmer support, pushing back hard-liners in House Republicans, who have insisted on tightening the budget beyond the size of last year's temporary budget. The

congressional leadership has secured the necessary budget by March 14 next year, allowing the Trump administration, which is set to take office next month, to reflect its position in next budget negotiations.
