South Korea and U.S. Foreign Ministers' Call "Scheduling for Early Face-to-Face Talks"

The foreign ministers of South Korea and the U.S. decided to talk on the phone today (21st) and coordinate the schedule for an early face-to-face consultation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Secretary Cho Tae-yeol and U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken shared their opinions on the current domestic situation and Korea-U.S. relations.

In a call, Minister Cho said, "Let's make efforts to maintain and develop the Korea-U.S. alliance without wavering in the acting president system."

He also urged the U.S. to work together to ensure that the results of cooperation between South Korea, the U.S., and Japan can continue to develop in the new U.S. administration.

Blinken said he strongly agreed, adding that he fully trusts the current acting system of Han Deok-soo and that the U.S. appreciates South Korea's democracy and resilience.

He reaffirmed that the US's ironclad defense commitment remained unchanged, adding that we should communicate closely and cooperate until the end of the Biden administration for the development of the Korea-U.S. alliance and cooperation between Korea and the U.S. and Japan.
