Survivors testified that there was a strange roar from the outside just before the crash of an Azerbaijani plane that killed dozens of people, and that unknown fragments had penetrated the plane and entered the plane.
According to the New York Times (NYT) on the 27th, surviving crew members Zulfugar Asadov, Aidan Rahimov and passengers Subhonkul Rahimov described the moment just before the plane crashed in Kazakhstan in an interview with NYY.
The plane, which departed from Baku, Azerbaijan, on the 25th for Grozny, the capital of the Chechen Republic in southern Russia, suddenly changed course and crashed while trying to land in Aktau, western Kazakhstan, and only 29 survived.
Asadov, a male flight attendant, said the plane had made three attempts to land in Chechnya, and since then it has started operating strangely.
He recalled the situation at the time, when he heard a strange sound outside the fuselage, and for unknown reasons, his arm was cut and bandaged with a towel.
Lahimri, a female flight attendant, said there were two banging sounds outside the aircraft, and debris penetrated the cabin.
Some passengers, who felt the impact on the aircraft, said they stood up in fear.
Passengers Rahimov said he also heard a "bang" and expected the plane to crash when he saw damage to the aircraft.
"I thought it was the last prayer," he recalled, beginning to pray.
But the plane miraculously kept flying and crashed in Kazakhstan.Explaining the shock he received at the time,
Rahimov said he felt like he was constantly twisting.
He said there was silence around him until other passengers began to groan from the pain of their injuries.
"I realized we had landed," he said, "I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, I didn't know what to do," and he said he was lucky to sit in the back of the plane.
If you look at the pictures of the crash site, the front part of the plane is destroyed, but the tail side is relatively stable.
The White House also raised the possibility that Russia's air defense system was mistakenly shot down, with preliminary findings from Azerbaijan saying the crash was due to Russian missiles or debris.
At the time of the accident, the Russian side is cautious, saying that a Ukrainian drone strike took countermeasures in the area of Grozny Airport, the original destination of the plane.
