The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has secured both types of black boxes, flight recorders and voice recorders, in connection with the Jeju Air accident, and has begun a thorough investigation.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said the aircraft first tried to land at Muan Airport at 8:54 a.m. this morning, and three minutes later, at 8:57 a.m., it received a bird-movement alert from the control tower.
Two minutes later, at 8:59, the pilot made a Mayday request, a distress signal, and four minutes later, at 9:03, the final crash occurred.
However, we have not given a definite answer on why the engine was damaged during the first landing attempt and why the landing gear was not unfolded at the time of landing when the engine was damaged due to a bird collision.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said Muan Airport was closed until 5 a.m. on January 1, and 1,572 people, including firefighters, police and local governments, are currently handling accidents, including eight investigators and nine supervisors.
