Acting President Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Strategy and Finance, held the 3rd Central Disaster Countermeasures Meeting at the Seoul Government Complex and started further inspections of the Muan airliner accident.

Let's listen to it for ourselves.

[Choi Sang-mok / Acting President]
This morning, a tragic accident occurred at Muan Airport in Jeollanam-do.

We pray for the repose of those who were killed in the accident, and express our deepest condolences and condolences to the bereaved families.

As the acting head of the government responsible for the safety and life of the people, I feel indescribable heartbreak and sorry.

The government is making all-out efforts to recover and support damage by mobilizing all available resources together, centering on the Jeju Air Passenger Accident Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

The government will declare Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do as a special disaster area and provide necessary support such as damage recovery, support for bereaved families, and treatment of the injured.

We will establish and operate an integrated support center involving related ministries and institutions at the site to guide families with funeral support and psychological support, and provide unified integrated support in one place.

We will designate a dedicated public official for each bereaved family to support you carefully so that there will be no inconvenience.

We will ensure that the identification of the victim is carried out as quickly as possible through scientific investigators at Muan Airport dispatched by the police.

In addition, the government decided to set seven days from today to 24:00 on January 4 as a national mourning period and set up joint memorial altar in 17 cities and provinces, including Muan Airport and Jeonnam, Gwangju, Seoul, and Sejong, to express condolences and condolences for the victims.

All ministries, local governments, and public institutions will fly flags, public officials will wear mourning ribbons, and above all, the safety of the people will be put first.

In addition, the Central Accident Management Headquarters established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport will thoroughly investigate the cause of the accident with the Air Railroad Accident Investigation Committee, reveal the responsibility, and disclose it quickly and transparently to the bereaved family and the public.

We will ensure that we do not neglect preparing measures to prevent recurrence at the pan-governmental level to prevent tragic accidents from occurring again in the future.

Once again, I would like to express my deepest condolences to the dead and bereaved families, and the government will do its best to deal with the accident. Thank you.
