K-pop groups' 'Black Ribbon' appearance at Japan's Red and White Song Competition

2025.01.01 AM 12:39
K-pop groups who appeared on NHK's year-end music program "The Red and White Song Competition" were all on stage with black ribbons on their chests.

Four K-pop groups, including Eilit, Le Seraphim, Tomorrow X Together, and Twice, appeared at the 75th Red and White Song Competition held at NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo yesterday (31st).

They wore mostly white outfits and wore black ribbons on their left chests.

The black ribbon appears to be a tribute to the victims of the Jeju Air plane disaster at Muan Airport on the 29th.

Japanese media reported that the K-pop group, which appeared at the Red and White House competition, attached a certificate to its chest in the wake of an aircraft accident.

Listing means a ticket placed on the collar or sleeve to show the intention of consoling death.

Sankei Sports reported, "There were voices concerned about the appearance of the Korean group as Korea designated January 4 as a national mourning period," adding, "The four teams each expressed their condolences and took the stage."

Earlier, girl group New Jeans also appeared with black ribbons in memory at the "Japan Record Awards" held in Japan the previous day.
