A Korean tourist who went missing in a boat capsized accident on Thailand's famous tourist island of Pangan has been found dead.

According to local media such as the Bangkok Post, authorities found and recovered the body of a Korean male tourist missing off the coast of Pangan Island in Surat Thani province in southern Thailand on the 29th of last month.

The body was found near Hotlin Pier on Pangan Island, about 5 kilometers from the site of the boat accident, and police say an autopsy is underway.

The accident boat was overturned while traveling to a beach resort south of Pangan Island with 13 people, including tourists and sailors.

Tourists from Japan, Turkiye, the Netherlands and Germany were on the boat, and all but one Korean tourist was rescued.

At the time, there were strong waves two to three meters high in the sea, but passengers were not wearing life vests, and the crew who controlled the boat tested positive for drugs.
