Joint Chiefs of Staff "Summary of inducing North Korea's provocations, this cannot happen"

2025.01.03 AM 02:56
The Joint Chiefs of Staff refuted allegations that the South Korean military distributed leaflets to North Korea to induce North Korea's provocations, saying it was impossible.

Lee Seong-joon, head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff's press office, said in a regular briefing at the Ministry of National Defense yesterday (2nd), "It is not true that the military distributed leaflets against North Korea to induce the enemy to provoke."

He explained that if the military had engaged in activities to induce the enemy's provocation, a lot of debris would have crossed into the South during the bombing of the Gyeongui and Donghae lines, and that they would have fired into North Korea at that time.

Chief Lee also stressed that our military is engaged in activities to protect the people and protect lives and safety, but not to induce provocations from the enemy.

In addition, it maintained its existing position that it could not confirm allegations that the military flew drones to Pyongyang in October last year.

Representative Bu Seung-chan of the Democratic Party of Korea mentioned earlier in a radio interview on the 31st of last month that the military had received a tip that it seemed to produce and spray leaflets against North Korea and induce North Korea's provocations.
