With far-right YouTubers advocating for President Yoon Suk Yeol after the "December 3 emergency martial law incident," strong supporters YouTubers are making a fortune by increasing views and subscribers or receiving hundreds of millions of donations from supporters.
The famous conservative YouTube channel has been broadcasting live for hours with cameras installed at the site of the sit-in.
According to "Playboard," a real-time YouTuber information aggregation site, all 1st to 5th in the Super Chat rankings as of the 3rd are conservative YouTubers. All of them held live on-site broadcasts throughout the early morning of the day, and the amount accumulated on Super Chat for several hours alone ranged from at least 2 million won to up to 7.5 million won.
'SuperChat' is conducted in such a way that the comments are fixed at the top for a long time depending on the amount of money paid by the viewer.
As of the 1st, when the court issued a warrant for the arrest of President Yoon, "God's Han-su" ranked first in Korea's overall Super Chat ranking.
Sinui Han-su, which has 1.58 million subscribers, donated about 139.51 million won from December 5 to 2 last year after the martial law crisis. The number of subscribers has increased by 70,000 so far from 1.51 million before the martial law crisis.
Hong Cheol-ki TV, which ranked second in the Super Chat rankings, donated about 3.97 million won and 3.65 million won, respectively, on the 1st and 2nd.
In third place was Young Time. This YouTube received about 3.76 million won and 2.36 million won in Super Chat on the 1st and 2nd, respectively.
President Yoon, who is known to enjoy watching YouTube, sent a letter to the protesters gathered in front of his residence late in the afternoon of the 1st, saying, "I'm watching you struggle with real-time YouTube. Thank you so much and it's a pity," he said. "I'll fight until the end. Let's cheer up more," he said.
