The Democratic Party of Korea criticized the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs for selecting the case of representative pro-Japanese figures for the "Independence Movement of the Month."
Kim Yong-man, chairman of the party's special committee on history and justice, issued a statement, pointing out that the independence movement included the founding of the Geunwoo Association and the expiration of the Japanese organ, which involved Kim Hwal-ran, the first president of Ewha Womans University, and Inchon Kim Sung-soo, respectively.
Representative independence movements such as Ahn Jung-geun, Lee Bong-chang, and Yoon Bong-gil were excluded, and Kim Hyung-seok, the director of the Independence Hall of Korea, who emphasized the restoration of the honor of pro-Japanese group, participated in the selection process.
