The final vote was held because there was no majority of the votes in the first round of the by-election for the chairman of the Korean Medical Association.

In the first round of voting for the presidential election of the Korea Medical Association held this afternoon (4th), Kim Taek-woo, president of the Korea Regional Medical Association, ranked first with 27.66% of the votes, and Joo Su-ho, former president of the Korea Medical Association, ranked second with 26.17%.

The other candidates, Choi Anna, the planning director of the Medical Association, Lee Dong-wook, the chairman of the Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Association, and Kang Hee-kyung, a professor of Seoul National University Medical School, followed with 10 percent of the vote each.

The National Assembly's central election committee explained that if there is no majority of the votes in the first round, the first and second-place candidates will hold a runoff election.

As a result, the final vote will be held for the two candidates for two days on the 7th and 8th, and the candidate with the majority vote will be elected immediately and inaugurated as the chairman of the Korea Medical Association.
