Ishiba Says "Take Japanese Industry Concerns Heavy" On Not Accepting U.S. Steel

2025.01.06 PM 03:59
Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba said he takes growing concerns from the Japanese industry over U.S.-Japan investment in connection with U.S. President Biden's refusal to buy U.S. Steel.

He then said he would strongly call on the U.S. government to respond to the concerns.

Prime Minister Ishiba held a New Year's press conference after visiting the Ise Shrine in Mie Prefecture today and answered questions about the purchase of US Steel.

He then stressed that it would not be a story in the future unless he was told exactly why there were security concerns by the U.S. government.

At the same time, he emphasized that what he said now is very important in future relationships, no matter how much allies they are.

He also explained that the meeting with U.S. President-elect Trump has not been confirmed yet, and that he is coordinating to realize it in an appropriate form at the most appropriate time.

At the same time, he said that he is very concerned about North Korea's ballistic missile launches, and that the technology is increasing over and over again.

Ise Shrine is a shrine dedicated to the ancestors of the Japanese royal family, Amateras Omikami, and is considered a sacred place for the Japanese conservatives.
