U.S. President-elect Donald Trump agreed with Biden's decision not to sell US Steel, arguing that there was no reason to sell it as much as tariffs could further increase the company's value.
Trump said on his SNS, "Wouldn't it be nice if US Steel, once the world's greatest company, moves toward greatness again?"
Trump's remarks are interpreted as meaning that there is no reason for the company to push for a sale, as US Steel's competitiveness will improve if his high-rate tariff pledge is implemented.
During the presidential election, Trump pledged to impose 10-20% universal tariffs on all imports and 60% tariffs on Chinese goods, and expressed opposition to Japan Steel's acquisition of US Steel.
