Governor Kim posted a message on social media, saying, "Fortunately, all 310 people in the building were safe without any serious injuries," adding, "There were heroes who calmly performed their roles in this miracle. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
"We would like to thank the head of the management center and the representative of the pool who evacuated children and teachers to the fifth basement floor after confirming that they could not evacuate to the ground floor from the swimming pool on the first basement floor, the paramedics of the Bundang Fire Station Yatap 119 Safety Center who warmed up the wet children in the ambulance, the Bundang Health Center who quickly set up the emergency medical center, and the disaster medical support team at Seoul National University Bundang Hospital who came in one step," he said.
Earlier, a fire broke out on the first floor of a complex commercial building in Yatap-dong, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, at around 4:38 p.m. on the 3rd.
More than 240 people, including 22 minor injuries, were rescued by the fire and the remaining 70 were evacuated on their own.
