Icheon City will run the city government this year with the goal of building a future city and promoting daily happiness, with "recovery of the people's livelihood" as the top priority of the city government.

Icheon Mayor Kim Kyung-hee said at a New Year's press conference, "The financial priority was to stabilize people's livelihoods, expand life-oriented infrastructure, and secure future growth engines."

Icheon City's five major focus tasks this year include welfare for people's livelihoods and realization of future education, creating a solid economic foundation that will lead the next 50 years, implementing a smart safe city, improving road, transportation and parking inconvenience, creating a charming city full of leisure and enjoyment 365 days, happy rural areas where you want to live, and implementing sustainable high-tech agriculture.

Mayor Kim said, "We will focus our administrative power on improving the business environment, revitalizing traditional markets, and operating an on-site support group for alley restaurants while operating the Icheon Love local currency issuance with a goal of 110 billion won."

In addition, he added, "The attraction of Gyeonggi-type science high schools is a door to the opportunity for Icheon City to become a central city for fostering high-tech and scientific talents in Korea," adding, "We will do our best with citizens to succeed in the final attraction following the preliminary designation of the first stage."
