Shares of Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, which had been rising in anticipation ahead of CES, the world's largest consumer electronics and IT exhibition, turned to a decline in investor disappointment after CEO Jensen Huang's remarks.
However, the KOSPI and KOSDAQ indexes continued to rise for three consecutive days.
The KOSPI rose 0.1 percent to 2,492.10 on net foreign buying, and the tech-heavy KOSDAQ index closed 0.1 percent higher at 718.29 on net personal buying.
During the day, the KOSPI regained the 2,520 level and the KOSDAQ index regained the 720 level, but the increase decreased after CEO Jesson Hwang's remarks.
In Seoul, the won-dollar exchange rate fell 16.2 won to 1,453.5 won as of 3:30 p.m.The
won-dollar exchange rate declined due to media reports that the Trump administration could make some changes to its universal tariff commitments.
